1-5 players per a game
Players can select multiple targets
Simply drag each player on the bottom to each empire that you want the player to work on. You will see that players profile underneath the empire which indicates it is selected.
You can zoom in on the map by using two fingers and spreading them apart. When zoomed in you can see different areas of the map by sliding your finger in the direction that you wish to see. Making a pinching motion with both fingers zooms the out on the map.
Players can work on as few as one or as many as all of the empires on any given game making for an almost endless combination of possibilities! Press the “next” button after you have finished selecting at least one empire for each student.
Each of the 8 empires / activities have their own unique intro that combine the theme of the kingdom with its corresponding language activity. These catchy small introductions are a great way to get your students primed for the upcoming activity.
Students benefit from a variety of cues on Language Empires to help them identify the correct answer. Visual cues are part of understanding conversation on a daily basis. The University of Alabama cites the following:
“Clear pictures multiply the students’ level of understanding of the material presented, and they should be used to reinforce your message, clarify points, and create excitement.” University of Alabama School of Medicine, 2005
Smarty Ears has made sure that each question on all the levels of Language Empires include high quality diverse images.

As with all Smarty Ears apps, Language Empire offers detailed and visual data collection. The data can be emailed, printed, or shared to other compatible applications such as iBooks or Pages.
An “empire” is defined as a group of states or peoples united and ruled by an authority—and Smarty Ears has definitely shown us that it is an authority when it comes to technology in speech therapy and it’s newest creation “Language Empires” rules in the land of apps!! http://speechsnacks.com/2013/01/language-empires-smarty-ears-an-app-rules-app-review/
It’s hard to find a comprehensive app that targets the language concepts I need. I love Language Empires because I can take it into classrooms with me and can usually gather some good data for whatever skill that teacher happens to be working on. It’s great not having to do a lot of prep. http://busybeespeech.blogspot.com/2013/02/language-empires-app-review.html
Language Empires is an outstanding tool to help students in a wide range of ages practice language and communication. The app’s graphics and narrations are superior, and the questions make good use of context clues, inference and similar higher-level thinking skills. http://bestappsforkids.com/2013/02/language-empires/
