Smarty Ears CEO Barbara Fernandes loves languages and cultures, and she is committed to making quality apps that help children not only in English but in as many languages as possible. Smarty Ears has released new versions of two apps, WhQuestions and Fun & Functional, to help children with language difficulties reach their potential in their native languages.
WhQuestions is now available in Spanish, Portuguese and French, and Fun & Functional in Spanish and Portuguese. All languages are inside the same app, and users can switch languages in each app’s settings.

The latest version of WhQuestions has a receptive and an expressive component for answering a variety of wh-questions, with over 400 opportunities to answer and ask real-world questions. With fun illustrations and versatile real-world questions, WhQuestions is a go-to app for helping students ask and answer basic questions. It works on iPad and iPhone.
Fun & Functional, by speech-language pathologist Rosie Simms, helps improve language comprehension and expression by building the ability to identify and describe the function, or use, of real-world objects. Users can switch the app’s language in the settings.
Smarty Ears is already one of the leading providers of speech therapy apps in Brazil, with over 14 apps in Portuguese. In 2014 the company put a lot of effort into translating its apps, and some are now available in five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French. More apps in Portuguese, Spanish and French are planned.
